This book is one of the best I know in the subject. When I first bought it about five years ago I could recognize this fact
clearly. Nonetheless, it is my opinion that this book is not for absolute beginners. When I read it for the first time I understood some things, but others escaped my comprehension. The third chapter, for example, on
Qabbalah, is quite technical and philosophical, perhaps even too "stratospehrical" for readers without SOME (not neccesarily large) formation on Qabbalah. Re-reading it now, after five years of constant work
and study on the subject, all these doubts have been solved... but not precisely through THIS book. There is a good section on the Middle Pillar exercise and the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, and an
excellent chapter on talismans which includes the three different and interesting theories regarding the magical charge. On the whole, it is a very good book about magical theory, and in this it is accesible even to
absolute new-comers to the subject, although technicalities make it a little dense even to the experienced reader. I would say that this book is a must for students of the occult and arm-chair and practical magicians
alike, but I don't give it five stars because even for the sholarly occultist it is sometimes a little hard. Nonetheless, anyone pursuing magical studies seriously should have read this book at least once. I would
include it, along with Regardie's, Fortune's and Kraig's books in the list of "10 books a magician should read"

The material is broken into 18 lessons, of which 7 cover the card meanings themselves (three for the minor arcana, one for the court cards, and three for the major
arcana), and 6 cover spreading & reading the cards with examples.
The text is concise, and for each card there's a section explaining it's symbolism and meanings when straight and reversed. The explanations
are solid - Eden Gray knows the material well, and draws on Waite's Pictorial Key to the Tarot and the Golden Dawn's Book T (an improvement over many authors who just babble whatever comes to their minds).
The
book covers basic numerology and astrology, which gives a larger view and explains the explanations.

I have many books on the subject, and this is the best. If you are looking for a very in-depth look at the Tree of Life, then this
is the best book there is hands down. She talks about each saphiroth in order, with many pages dedicated to each one. She quotes from the Sepher Yitzirah, which can really shed a lot of light on the true nature of
the Tree of Life. This book is the result of a great deal of research. I will say this: I normally don't like books that are written by women, say what you will. But I have to admit that this is by far the best book on
the TOL that I have ever seen. Israel Regardie's Garden of Pomegranetes is a close second, but the amount of analytical original thinking that Fortune does on each section makes this one the better book.
