1.) RESPECT. Have a baseline of respect for everyone. This must hold true for the simple reason that each poster must NOT be considered a faceless entity. Meeting someone in real life for the first time requires a certain amount of respect and time to "feel the other person out". This can be done online also by taking time to ascertain what type of person is behind the messages.
2.) PATIENCE. A little bit of patience goes a long way. Get to know the members, and what's kosher and what isn't. Many of us have known each other for a while, and like any other "new" person or situation, it takes a bit of time to get used to. Don't rush things!
3.) HUMILITY. A bit of humility keeps the forum moderators away! Cockiness, arrogance in small amounts can be considered confidence, but too much tends to rub people the wrong way. Be humble when asking for help, as well as be humble when giving it. Critiques and such are one way in which we improve our work, but it must be presented in a constructive fashion. Being humble will help in this.
4.) POLITENESS. Anyone can be rude, but real professionals are polite and courteous. Polite courtesy is something we have all probably found lacking at one time or place. This does not have to be the case at the CAC online forum. A little bit of effort on your part to be polite and courteous will not only ensure people interact with each other in a friendly manner, but it will set a good example for other members.
5.) SINCERITY. Be true to that which you say. Oftentimes it's difficult to figure out what a person's meaning is based on their post. Sometimes it requires some extra explaining in order to ensure the meaning gets across clearly. Try to be as concise, honest and accurate as you can when you're posting.
6. Remember, a moderator does not need to comment on every posting, or any posting for that matter, just keep the Forum in line with the Code of Conduct.
7.) Of course it goes without saying that no spamming, name-calling, profanity or vulgarity is allowed. One registration per member.
Each of these points blend together to make up the code of conduct. They must all be utilized in order to maintain a good working relationship with your fellow forumites. This holds true in any social situation in life. Following these points will certainly make your visit here an easy, fun and enjoyable one.
